Execution

How to do it

  1. 01

Kettlebell on the floor between your feet, feet shoulder-width apart.

  2. 02

Push your hips back, back straight and chest up, then grip the handle with both hands.

  3. 03

Press your feet into the floor and drive your hips forward to stand up.

  4. 04

Finish tall with shoulders back, then lower by pushing your hips back, back still straight.

Common mistake

Lifting with your back: your glutes and the back of your thighs should do the work.

The decision

When this movement makes sense

It loads the hinge without requiring a pair and keeps the configuration simple for a home inventory.

When this changes

A pair of dumbbells calls for a different two-sided variant; a single load must not be doubled in the history.
