Dumbbell biceps curls

The two-arm curl requires two dumbbells and complements a pull; it does not replace the main back work in the workout.

Execution

How to do it

  1. 01

Hold a dumbbell in each hand, arms by your sides, palms facing forward.

  2. 02

Keep your shoulders down and back, elbows close to your body.

  3. 03

Bend your elbows to lift the dumbbells toward your shoulders, without moving your elbows forward or arching your back.

  4. 04

Lower slowly, with your wrists in line with your forearms.

Common mistake

Swinging your torso or shrugging your shoulders to lift the weight.

The decision

When this movement makes sense

It adds local arm work when the pair and the remaining time allow it.

When this changes

If the main pull is missing for lack of equipment, adding curls does not let the engine claim the anchor is covered.
